Dr. Gary L. Etting

Founder

Dr. Gary L. Etting is a Board-Certified Developmental Optometrist with over 4 decades of clinical experience working with children and adults with: visual processing disorders, strabismus, sports performance under-performance and traumatic brain injury. A graduate of UCLA and the Southern California College of Optometry, Dr. Etting is an internationally known lecturer in his field, has been an adjunct professor to over 8 different optometry schools and trained over 160 externs over his distinguished career. Dr. Etting is a Past President of the COVD (College of Optometrists in Vision Development) and served as Past International COVD Exam Board Chairman.

Dr. Elizabeth Nace (Dr. Liz)

Dr Liz was awarded her Doctor of Optometry degree by Pennsylvania College of Optometry and she continued on to complete a residency in Vision Therapy, Pediatrics, and Neuro-Rehabilitation through Southern College of Optometry. In addition, Dr. Liz received her Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry and her Diplomat from the American Board of Optometry. Currently, she is working toward her Fellowship in the College of Vision and Development and enjoys the pursuit of knowledge and growth.

While Dr. Liz loves working with all of our patients, she has a special passion for helping those struggling from the results of vision disorders relating to head and brain injury.

Dr. Shawn Joseph (Dr. Shawn)

Owner

Found his passion for optometry when he was in high school and he received his Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry. During his time at SCO, he was connected with many pioneers in the field of Developmental Optometry and Pediatrics. Since August 2020, he has been serving the San Fernando Valley Optometric Society as the Community Outreach Chair.

Dr. Shawn has attended more than 250 hours of post-graduate education in Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation and Binocular Vision; he is currently working toward his Fellowship in the College of Vision and Development. In addition to working with all of our patients, he loves to work with children on the spectrum and finds the process of connection and growth extremely rewarding.

Dr. Kimberly Butka (Dr. Kim)

Associate

First cultivated a passion for working with children at Michigan College of Optometry where she was granted her Doctor of Optometry. She pursued rotations at clinics that specialized in Developmental Optometry and Sports Vision, including Dr. Etting’s office. Dr. Kim continues her post-graduate education through attendance at multiple conferences, including those held by the International Sports Vision Association (ISVA) and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association (NORA). She joined our office 6 years ago and is a vital part of our team.
